Automotive Working Group Meeting

On Thursday, 13 August 2021, the members of the EuroCham Automotive Working Group met to jointly discuss and exchange updates related to the automotive industry. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Working Group, Daniel Purba of Mercedes-Benz. Topics discussed among others were on the latest extension of fiscal incentives by the government for the sector, as well as current guidelines by the government for industrial companies to operate during the pandemic’s emergency situation. Current developments on the implementing regulations of the Omnibus law were also discussed, as it also affected the automotive and transportation sector that included changes in the maximum width of vehicles allowed to operate on the country’s roads. Member companies also discussed the current challenges in SNI certifications at the meeting.

The Working Group also monitored ongoing developments related to the Draft Law to Amend the Tax Law No. 6 of 1983 currently being discussed by the House of Representatives, as it seeks to provide a framework for the implementation of carbon tax, multi-VAT tariffs, as well as minimum Corporate Income Tax. Lastly, the Working Group shared updates regarding the government’s readiness to apply Euro IV Standard in diesel fuel.
