Chemical Working Group Meeting

In response to how stimulus packages to achieve sustainable value chain in this crisis situation and also the business reconfiguration ahead, the EuroCham Chemical Working Group organized a session on, “Raw Materials Supply: Unforeseen Changes in the Future Landscape of Supply Chain in The Chemical Industry Due to Coronavirus.” The virtual meeting was held on 1 October 2020 and highlighted how the COVID-19 pandemic not only hinders people’s mobility, but also disrupts the distribution network of goods globally wherein once the supply chains of the chemicals industry are disrupted by outbreaks in key regions, then demand may fall due to uncertainty in the global economy and capital markets. However, the Government has introduced different stimulus packages to help revive the economy, which is an opportunity for achieving sustainable value chains and turn this crisis into something positive for society at large.

The Meeting presented distinguished speakers that included Bambang Nurcahyo (Finance Director of Merck Chemical & Life Science) and Muhammad Khayam (Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textile of the Ministry of Industry). The discussion session was moderated by the Head of Chemicals Division from BASF Indonesia, Fahrurrozi, in his capacity as the Deputy Head of the EuroCham Chemical Working Group.
