The 36th ASEAN Cosmetic Committee (ACC) Meeting

EuroCham had the previledge to be invited as an observer to the 36th ASEAN Cosmetic Committee (ACC) Meeting held on 30 November – 1 December 2022 after previously holding the 36th ASEAN Cosmetic Scientific Body (ACSB) Meeting (21-22 November 2022), the ASEAN Cosmetic Testing Laboratory (ACTLC) (23-24 November 2022) and the ACC Head of Delegation (HoD) on 28 – 29 November 2022.

Rachmi Setyorini, MKM, Director of Standardization of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics – National Agency of Drugs and Food Control (BPOM), served as the Head of the Indonesian Delegation, with Drs. Harry Wahyu T as the chair of ACC. The sessions were held via video conference and was attended by 10 ASEAN member countries as well as representatives from the ASEAN Cosmetics Association (ACA) and several representatives from local and international associations.

The issues discussed at the meeting included amendments to Annex II, III, IV, and VI in the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD) to update several ingredients used as cosmetics, guidelines related cosmetic refills, cosmetics in vials and ampoules (cosmetic refilling), discussion of country specific requirements and other issues of concern to ASEAN members countries.

Invited to CIPS Event: Bolstering Economic Recovery: Intellectual Property Rights & Investment Outlook

EuroCham was cordially invited to “Bolstering Economic Recovery: Intellectual Property Rights & Investment in Indonesia” a talk show event organized by the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS), in collaboration with Geneva Network, on November 30. The panel of discussion was led by Reni Yanita, Director General of Small Medium Industry and Alike at the Ministry of Industry; Agusdini Banun, Director of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution at the Ministry of Health; Rani Nuradi, Patent Examining Coordinator of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights; Prof. Mark Schultz, Intellectual Property and Technology Law Program at University of Akron; and Prof. Bryan Mercurio, Simon F.S Li Professor of Law at the Chinese University of Hongkong.

The panelists explained how foreign investment could promote Indonesia’s investment through IP protection and enforcement, because those are primary considerations for foreign investors before investing in Indonesia. By strengthening the IP protection and enforcement, transfer of knowledge to domestic companies will be more encouraged. The meeting was concluded with lively Q&A sessions from the participants.
