Event Reports

On the 7th of November, the Sustainable Development Working Group held its first offline meeting at the Danone Office. The meeting was led by the Head of the Working Group, Karyanto Wibowo (Danone Indonesia), as well as the Board Patron of the Sustainable Development Working Group, Francois de Maricourt (HSBC). The group was delighted to invite Zul Martini Indrawati from Indonesia Packaging Recovery Organization (IPRO) to give an in-depth insight on the waste management for plastic packaging as well as the regulatory framework issued by the Ministry of Environment.

The meeting also discussed plans for the upcoming years, highlighting regular engagement with external stakeholders by taking collaborative actions and sharing best practices. The group elected new deputies to represent the sub-sector: Environment and Social. We would like to congratulate the new deputies Ribut Purwanti from Unilever Indonesia (Deputy of the Environment Sector) and Nuni Sutyoko from HSBC (Deputy of the Social Sector). We would also like to thank the participants who attended and actively contributed to the meeting.

On the 4th of November, EuroCham warmly welcomed Nina Pouls, Business Integrity Associate at British International Investment plc.

The meeting provided a brief introduction to EuroCham and our advocacy work as well as an in-depth discussion of prospective investment areas, the political situation, and challenges for foreign investors in Indonesia. We discussed relevant regulations and policies that impact businesses in various sectors.
