During the Symposium World Diabetes Day 2017, Sebnem Avsar Tuna, Corporate Vice President of BAOS, Novo Nordisk A/S conveyed the four (4) key issues of diabetes occuring in Indonesia, namely Lack of general public awareness related to diabetes; Inequity of healthcare supply and demand resulting from an expanding patient population and too few diabetes specialists; Lack of resources in the public healthcare system within the Indonesian population; and Low number of people receiving proper treatment or insulin, resulting in poor-quality of diabetes care.

By understanding these four key issues, we believe it can help reducing the number of diabetes case in Indonesia. By considering the condition, Novo Nordisk continually advocates better prevention and care for diabates, particularly in Indonesia through 4 pillars, such as Strong Collaboration with the government; Capacity building for healthcare professionals; Patients education; and Diabetes awareness increment. “In Indonesia, we strive to partner, work hand in hand with the Ministry of Health, Local Government and also other relevant stakeholders in fighting the Diabetes pandemic,” Sebnem Avsar Tuna.
