Food Label and Advertisement - EuroCham Consulted Pokja III

EuroCham Agriculture, Food & Beverages working group continues to advocate on the issue of Draft of Government Regulation on Food Label and Advertisement (RPP Label dan Iklan Pangan). This meeting was a follow up of the recommendation letter that was submitted on February 2017 to Working Committee III (Pokja III) from Task Force of Economic Policy Implementation Acceleration and Effectiveness. Together with APPNIA (Association of Nutritious Product for Mother and Child Companies), EuroCham consulted Pokja III.

On 26 October 2017, delegation from EuroCham and APPNIA was welcomed by the Head of Pokja III, Mr. Mirza Adityaswara. On the meeting, Chairman of APPNIA, Mr. Maurits Klavert shared businesses concerns regarding the RPP. The meeting was also attended by representatives from Ministry of Health, BPOM, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, and Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. The purpose of the meeting was to establish open and constructive dialogue between business and Government of Indonesia representatives.

Chairman of APPNIA explained business concerns from the draft, which are on:

  • the prohibition to advertise and promote foods intended for infants and children up to 2 years
  • prohibition for food that has the same trade name with brands of infant formula, advance formula, and formula for growth to be advertised.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Mirza Adistyaswara acknowledged these concerns and promised to discuss further on the issues with the respective technical ministries. EuroCham will continue the collaboration and joint advocacy efforts with APPNIA to continue to assist Pokja III in the development of the RPP.
