Position Paper
EuroCham position paper reflects the main concerns and recommendations that have been expressed by European businesses that have first-hand experience working in the country, as regards to our contribution toward supporting Indonesia in its bid to improve the economy and overall well-being of the country.
The EU regards Indonesia as its important partner in Southeast Asia. EuroCham, as the representation of the European business community, shares this view and is committed to support the deepening of the RI-EU relationship. We hope that this series of position papers could contribute to the improvement of the overall well-being of the country and further economic integration between Indonesia and the EU.

KADIN Indonesia, APINDO and EuroCham have established a unique collaboration in order to offer business insights and are ready to continue to support negotiators and both governments throughout the entire process, starting from the negotiation and implementation of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA). The formulation of these recommendations involved broad-based consultations with businesses and member associations which were conducted through individual interviews, workshops and other forms of dialogue.
Following on from this solid base of stakeholder engagement, the collaboration has confirmed that the Indonesia-EU CEPA should be a dynamic agreement that features in-built mechanisms capable of monitoring and adapting their performance. An ongoing business advisory and consultation mechanism should also be established in order to ensure continued business-to-business engagement, as well as broader continuing stakeholder engagement.

Business Confidence Index
EuroCham Indonesia in cooperation with BritCham partnered with Nielsen to conduct Business Confidence Index for European companies. The survey is done to measure business outlook towards investing in the country and also business expectations about investment climate, fiscal policy, regulatory / legal environment, political environment and labor policy. Furthermore, the survey also analyzes business perception of the recent government policy and regulations. The survey covers representatives from large and medium companies and from various sectors of the economy.

Study
Economic cooperation with the European Union has helped accelerate Indonesia’s trade performance. This is reflected in the growth in European Union imports, exports and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indonesia.
The report titled A Decade of EU-Indonesia Economic Relations, which is the result of a collaborative effort undertaken between EuroCham and the Institute for the Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF), states that during the 2007-2016 period, Indonesia-EU trade in the goods sector grew by over 25% and has the potential to continue growing.
