Bayer Inauguration of the Rooftop Solar Power Plant

Published on 2 January 2025

EuroCham Indonesia was honoured to attend Bayer, our esteemed Gold member of EuroCham, for the Inauguration of Indonesia's Largest Rooftop Solar Power Plant in Multinational Pharmaceutical Sector on November 14 in Depok, West Java.

This milestone reflects Bayer’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s climate targets, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 31.89% by 2030. By transitioning to renewable energy, Bayer's solar initiative will cut carbon emissions by 2,073 metric tons annually — equivalent to planting 95,000 trees or removing 450 cars from the road each year.

European Union Ambassador H.E. Denis Chaibi and Indonesian government representatives celebrated this achievement, which exemplifies how strategic collaboration between the public and private sectors can drive sustainable energy transitions.

As a strategic manufacturing hub exporting to over 22 countries, Bayer’s Cimanggis facility showcases how renewable energy can power large-scale operations while aligning with global sustainability goals. Bayer’s efforts contribute to the United Nations SDG 13 to combat climate change and the company’s mission of “Health for All, Hunger for None.”

Thank you Bayer for inviting us and congratulations on the new solar power system installation!
