Chemical Working Group

On 4 February 2020, EuroCham Chemical Working Group held its first meeting in 2020. The Group discussed several regulatory updates relevant to the sector, among others was on Minamata Convention and Indonesia’s Plan for Reduction and Elimination of Mercury which aim to reduce and eliminate use of mercury by restricting manufacture and import or export of mercury contained products starting in 2020. Other related regulations, such as relating to Continuous Monitoring of Wastewater Quality; Green Industry Standards for the Water-Based Paint Industry; and Emergency Programs for the Management of Hazardous and Toxic Materials and/or Hazardous and Toxic Material Waste were also shared to the members. At the end of the meeting, the Group decided on some priority topics that would be included in the 2020 Chemical Position Paper.
