Cosmetic Working Group Meeting

Published on 10 February 2021

As a continuation of the 1st Webinar in collaboration with L'Oréal Indonesia, the Cosmetic Working Group organized the 2nd Webinar on 25 January 2021. This time the event focussed on "Cosmetic Technical Aspect on Ingredients - 1.4 Dioxane Analysis Method from Industry and Authority Perspective”. The webinar invited Tiger Wang (Scientist L’Oreal) and Dwi Yulianto Laksono (Laboratory Manager Saraswanti Indo Genetech) as speakers, who both shared Dioxane Analytical Method Practice from Industrial Perspective. This webinar also invited speakers from the government, namely Reri Indrianto (Deputy for Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplement, and Cosmetics, National Agency for Food and Drug Control/BPOM) to deliver the opening remarks, and Tepy Usia, Ph.D Usia (Director of Standardization of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplement, and Cosmetics, BPOM) to provide an update on Developing Standard Method in ASEAN.

The meeting discussed the implementation of BPOM Regulation No. 12 of 2019, relevant to Dioxane pollution, and highlight the challenges businesses faced in ensuring the safety of cosmetic products circulated and used by the public. By knowing the challenges, the meeting hopes that businesses and BPOM can align their perceptions concerning the 1.4 Dioxane testing method to be implemented by both parties.
