CSIS FGD: Seeking for Meeting Points in Strategic Economic Cooperation between Indonesia and the European Union
EuroCham Indonesia attended a Focus Group Discussion event with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on July 4. The main topic of discussion was "Finding Common Ground in the Strategic Economic Cooperation between Indonesia and the European Union." Both parties recognized the need to build bridges and compromise effectively to achieve strategic economic goals through the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), given the geopolitical and strategic tensions.
Distinguished guests and key officials from Indonesia and Europe participated in the discussion panel. Jerry Sambuaga, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, acknowledged the EU's strategic position as a major investor and trading partner. Marika Jakas, Head of Trade and Economic Section at the EU delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, was optimistic about concluding the FTA negotiation soon. Devi Kusumaningtyas from Nike shared her experience from Vietnam, projecting that the FTA conclusion would have an immediate effect on FDI. Yose Rizal Damuri, Executive Director at CSIS, emphasized that CEPA negotiations provide a platform for constructive dialogue on various issues.
