Danish Embassy Cross-Sectoral Obesity Awareness Forum 2025

Published on 20 October 2025

On 24 September, EuroCham Indonesia was honored to be invited to participate in the Cross-Sectoral Obesity Awareness Forum 2025, themed “Obesity Discussion: Beyond Weight.” The forum served as a critical platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue, uniting government bodies, healthcare professionals, academia, and the private sector to address obesity as a pressing public health challenge in Indonesia.

The discussions underscored the alarming rise in obesity rates and its significant health and economic implications, framing it as a complex chronic disease requiring a coordinated national strategy. Keynote insights were provided by high-level officials including Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Denmark, Per Brixen and Chairperson of BPOM, Prof. dr. TARUNA IKRAR, MD., PH.D.

The forum underscored the critical role of institutions like BPOM and the Ministry of Health, both of which are primary stakeholders for EuroCham's various working groups. Engaging with these key regulators on issues such as healthcare access and product approval pathways is essential for our members and aligns with our mission to foster a constructive dialogue between European businesses and Indonesian authorities.

The forum reinforced the necessity of collective action, aligning with EuroCham's focus on supporting sustainable health systems and knowledge sharing. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Royal Danish Embassy for the invitation and for facilitating this important conversation.
