Energy: Meeting with DG New & Renewable Energy
The Energy Working Group held a group meeting to discuss energy efficiency topic on June 7, 2018, hosted by Austrian Embassy Jakarta as the world’s first green embassy building and first building in Indonesia with green building certification.
H.E. Helene Steinhäusl, Ambassador of Austria welcomed the participants and outlined the challenges in the future energy sector as well as the importance of Paris Agreement and the commitment to support Indonesia toward more energy efficient system. The speech later reciprocate by Rida Mulyana, Director General of New Renewable and Conservation of Energy, who also highlight the country target toward Renewable Energy while acknowledging that there are still some issues in regards to energy efficiency such as limited number of energy auditor and lack of fund. To help overcome the issues, he welcomed EuroCham to give inputs and discuss together
The meeting continued with a brief explanation on technicalities of Austrian Embassy Building was by Mr. Andreas Heuberger, Head of Administration of Austrian Embassy in Jakarta, before the tour around the embassy to showcase the special features of the building. Later on Mr. Michael Lederer, Attache for Transport, Innovation and Technology delivered presentation of Innovation and technology in Austria and emphasize the importance of innovation for the country like Indonesia.
More than 40 participants were attended the meeting and involved in lively discussion with Mr. Harris, Director for New and Renewable Energy Variety; Ms. Ida Nurhayatin Finahari, Director of Geothermal; and Ms. Feby Misna, Director of Bio Energy. The meeting was expected to become a starting point for future engagement with the Directorate to focus on sharing experience and find the best suggestion as well as solutions.
