Exchange on the Digital Startup Ecosystem Landscape: Germany – Indonesia

On 24 July, EuroCham Indonesia was honored to participate in the Exchange on Startups Digital Ecosystem Landscape Germany-Indonesia, hosted by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi). This pivotal event, anchored in the 2023 Joint Declaration of Intent, accelerated bilateral cooperation to drive innovation in digital economies.

The dialogue was opened by remarks from Celine Becker (Head of the Indonesian Country Component of GPQI and Digital Dialogue of GIZ), Frank Krüger (Deputy Director General, German Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation), and Ichwan Makmur Nasution (Head of Center for International Affairs, MCDA).

The first session featured high-level insights from Jochen Zimmermann (Head of Startups, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs), and Muhammad Faisal (Head of Investment & Partnership, Directorate of Digital Ecosystems Development, MCDA). The second session featured industry pioneers including HI Incubator, Asia Berlin Forum, German Accelerator, and BETA Unmanned Aircraft Solutions. Key discussions highlighted policy synergies in startup acceleration, with Germany’s Digital Hub Initiative and Indonesia’s talent programs emerging as complementary models.
