Indonesia’s Economic Prospects: The Invisible Toll of Covid-19 on Learning

Published on 14 July 2023

EuroCham was invited to attend the World Bank event: Indonesia Economic Prospects; June 2023 edition: The Invisible Toll of Covid-19 on Learning, on 26 June.

The event highlighted that growth projections will begin to normalize in 2023 but increased emphasis should be placed to improve productivity, which was severely impacted by the pandemic. Satu Kahkonen, Country Director of The World Bank for Indonesia, provided 3 key policy recommendations: Implement the Omnibus law on job creation and Omnibus law on the financial sector; Remove constraints to fair competition; and Invest in education and human capital to invest in long-term human capital.

The event was opened by Satu Kahkonen, Country Director of World Bank Indonesia, and a Keynote speech was presented by Indonesia’s Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim, and Deputy Head of Mission of the Australian Embassy, Steven Scott.

Many thanks to the World Bank’s Indonesia team for inviting EuroCham Indonesia to this great event.
