IP Sub Working Group Meeting with DGIP and National Collective Management Organization

Published on 20 April 2026

On 13 March, EuroCham’s IP Sub-Working Group hosted a collaborative session titled “Copyright Governance in the Era of Digitalization.” The discussion explored the evolving landscape of rights and obligations in the management of commercialized music royalties, an increasingly relevant issue for companies in public-facing sectors such as retail and hospitality.

We were honored to welcome Evi Triana Wulandari, Partner at Rouse Indonesia, as moderator, together with our distinguished speakers Agung Damarsasongko, Director of Copyright and Industrial Design at the Direktorat Jenderal Kekayaan Intelektual (Directorate General of Intellectual Property), Kementerian Hukum Republik Indonesia (Ministry of Law), and Aji Mirza Hakim, Commissioner of LMKN Creators, Lembaga Manajemen Kolektif Nasional (National Collective Management Organization).

As Indonesia’s copyright framework undergoes significant transformation to keep pace with the digital era and the rise of AI, the session provided valuable insights into the latest developments in the governance of commercial music royalties amid rapid digital transformation. A key highlight from the discussion was the implementation of a compulsory, centralized licensing system managed by LMKN for all commercial music use. The government is also developing a more transparent, data-driven system, supported by a central database (PDLM), to verify ownership and ensure that musicians, writers, and artists receive fair remuneration based on the actual use of their works.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our speakers and members for the engaging dialogue.
