Ministry of Trade I-EU CEPA Strategic Forum: Opportunities and Challenges for Optimal Utilization

On 29 September, EuroCham Indonesia was pleased to attend and participate in the Strategic Forum on Expanding Export Markets to Canada and the European Union: Potentials, Opportunities, and Challenges of the Indonesia-Canada CEPA and Indonesia-EU CEPA, hosted by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia.
The forum was opened by Djatmiko Bris Wicaksono, Director General of International Trade Negotiations, followed by a keynote speech from H.E. Budi Santoso, Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. In his speech, the Minister reaffirmed the benefits of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) for both Indonesia and the EU, particularly in enhancing bilateral trade and opening new market opportunities. He also emphasized the importance of a well-monitored implementation of the agreements.
EuroCham Executive Director, Edison Bako, joined the panel discussion on Potentials, Opportunities, and Challenges of the Indonesia-EU CEPA, representing the unified voice of European business in Indonesia. In the discussion, EuroCham emphasized the CEPA as a game-changer for Indonesia-EU economic relations, highlighting the complementarity of both markets. EuroCham also reaffirmed its strong commitment to fostering a deeper and more dynamic EU-Indonesia partnership through the I-EU CEPA, and expressed its readiness to act as a bridge between European businesses and Indonesian stakeholders to ensure the agreement’s effective implementation and the realization of its benefits for all parties.
