Ministry’s Bioshare Series #2: Biogas for Non-Electricity in Indonesia

EuroCham’s Head of of Energy Working Group was invited to participate in the BioShare Series # 2: Biogas for Non Electricity in Indonesia that was held on 8 July 2021. Hosted by the Directorate of Bioenergy of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the event jointly discussed regulations and technical aspects for the use of Bio-CNG for the non-electricity sector in Indonesia. The webinar aims to encourage the implementation of biogas for the non-electricity sector, especially Bio-CNG by demonstrating its current implementation in Indonesia. It is expected that the development of Bio-CNG can have beneficial effects, including:

  1. Supporting national energy security to achieve 23% of the New Renewable Energy mix in 2025 with a target of direct use of biogas of 489.8 million cu. m. ,
  2. Reducing LPG imports and dependence on fossil energy; and
  3. Improving environmental quality by reducing Green House Gas emissions by 29% in 2030.
