Socialization of BPOM Regulation No. 12 of 2023 on the Supervision of the Manufacturing and Distribution of Cosmetics

EuroCham was invited by the Directorate of Standardization of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics, BPOM to attend a socialization event for the informational dissemination of BPOM Regulation No. 12 of 2023 concerning Supervision of the Manufacturing and Distribution of Cosmetics on 12 May.

The Acting Director of Standardization of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics officially Ibu Ria Christine Siagian opened and conveyed that cosmetics are a dynamic and quickly evolving product, and regulations must be adjusted, particularly those that pertain to the supervision of facilities used for their production and distribution. The addition of regulations concerning the supervision of cosmetic refills is one of the new provisions in this regulation. The Head of the Cosmetic Standards Development Team, Yurita Amarya S., moderated the discussion of the regulation socialization material.

Over 1,000 participants comprised of business actors and associations in the cosmetics sector, BPOM officers across Indonesia, related ministries and institutions, professional associations, higher education academics, and the community participated in the activity, which was conducted in hybrid format. By engaging in this activity, it is hoped that BPOM Regulation No. 21 of 2023 will be properly implemented, improving the level of protection against cosmetics that fail to comply with the standards.
