Tobacco WG Meeting

Published on 21 July 2026

On June 10th, EuroCham Indonesia’s Tobacco Working Group convened a hybrid meeting to discuss recent regulatory developments affecting the tobacco sector in Indonesia, including updates on tobacco excise tax, standardised (plain) packaging, tar and nicotine limitation regulations, and the proposed additives and flavour ban under PP No. 28/2024.

The discussion highlighted ongoing industry concerns regarding regulatory uncertainty, the potential impact of excessive restrictions on illicit trade, intellectual property protection issues related to plain packaging, and broader supply chain implications for the industry. Participants also exchanged views on advocacy strategies, science-based regulatory approaches, and opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.

EuroCham extends its appreciation to all participants for the constructive discussion and valuable insights shared during the meeting.
