Transport and Logistics Working Group: Update on LARTAS

To coordinate ongoing advocacies and upcoming activities a meeting was held on Wednesday, 6 September 2017. During the meeting, the Working Group shared the updates from the Customs Regorm Team. As of now, the Team is focusing more towards high risk import and reducing the high percentage of prohibited and restricted (LARTAS) goods. The Customs is currently reviewing few regulations for further revision.

Advocacy on simplification of LARTAS import licenses is being conducted following series of meetings with various ministries/agencies. Few letter of recommendations were submitted to help reduce the current high percentage of LARTAS goods that require additional licenses from technical ministries. During the meeting, the group also discussed the progress on taxation advocacy in logistics sector. Lastly, the meeting also shared updates on few newly issued regulations such as on Air Cargo Security, Freight Forwarding Services, and method of payment and handover of import goods and export goods.

In addition to policy updates, the Working Group also developed the content for the upcoming EU-Indonesia Business Dialogue. In addition, the Working Group will also support a dialogue organized by the EU Delegation on 29 September 2017 on Sustainable Innovative Transport Solutions. Ms. Violeta Bulc (European Commissioner for Transport) is expected to deliver a keynote speech in this event and the Head of EuroCham Transport and Logistics Working Group, Mr. Mathias Ruebke, will participate as one of the speakers.
