On June 12, 2020, EuroCham hosted the regular meeting of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Technology Working Group to discuss the Minister of Industry Regulation No 16 of 2020 on Provisions and Procedures for Local Content of Pharmaceutical Products, which was just recently enacted on 29 May 2020. This regulation provides the guidelines on how to calculate the local content of pharmaceutical product. The calculation consisting of four aspects, namely raw materials, research and development process, production process, and packaging process, through the scoring calculation.

Some concerns were also conveyed by the participants as an industrial business, and the meeting discussed follow up advocacy plans that need to be carried out in the short to medium term in regards to the issuance of this regulation. The main concerns include the basic clarity related to the definition of domestic industry, and also the best value in each aspect by looking at the characteristics of each pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia. In addition to this, the Group also shared updates on the healthcare sector specifically on the Social Insurance Administration Organization (BPJS) in the era of National Insurance Coverage (JKN).

On Monday, June 8, 2020, the Food and Beverage Working Group conducted an online meeting. The meeting was chaired by Doni Wiroto from Frisian Flag Indonesia as the Head of the Agriculture, Food and Beverage Working Group. On this occasion, the Group specifically jointly assessed and discussed the latest issuance of the National Agency for Food and Drug Control Regulation No. 8 of 2020 on the Supervision of Drugs and Foods that are Circulated Online. This meeting collected main concerns of the sector to be conveyed to the relevant policy makers.
