Danone Wins Solar Awards 2026, Operates Solar Power Plants at 11 Factories with 10.4 MWp Capacity

Danone Indonesia won the industry category at the Solar Awards 2026, part of the Indonesia Solar Summit (ISS) 2026, in recognition of its consistent integration of solar energy into its operations. The company now runs solar power systems at 11 production facilities across Indonesia with a combined installed capacity of more than 10.4 megawatt-peak. The initiative supports Danone's global commitment as an RE100 member, which aims for 100% renewable electricity across its worldwide operations by 2030. Director of Public Affairs & Sustainability Karyanto Wibowo framed the move as part of the company's push toward low-carbon operations and broader sustainability strategy.

The ISS 2026, held July 14-16 in Bali under the theme “From Ambition to Action – Strengthening the Solar PV Ecosystem to Support Energy Sovereignty,” was organized by the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR). IESR CEO Fabby Tumiwa said the Solar Awards recognize institutions demonstrating real-world implementation of solar energy, with the goal of encouraging wider adoption across Indonesia's low-carbon transition. Beyond solar, Danone highlighted other decarbonization efforts, including planting over 2.6 million trees across 6,000 hectares of conservation land, developing 20 biodiversity parks, optimizing transport and operational efficiency, and using rice husk boilers as an alternative energy source. Karyanto said the company plans to keep expanding renewable energy use and efficiency measures to cut emissions across its operations going forward.
