Institut Teknologi PLN receives in-kind technology grant from Siemens Indonesia

PT Siemens Indonesia announced that the company has awarded an in-kind technology grant to the Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN), with a commercial value of IDR 300 million. As part of this grant, Siemens’ Medium-voltage Switchgear and Distribution Systems will be used in the university's Power System Laboratory. The in-kind technology grant gives students access to the same technology that companies around the world depend on every day to develop innovative products in a wide variety of industries including utilities, oil and gas, mining, data centers and critical buildings, covering all power distribution needs for energy management.

The Medium-voltage Switchgear and Distribution Systems grant are intended to better prepare students and graduates for the complex and competitive medium voltage network and energy automation market and with that also develop their High Voltage circuit breaker knowledge. ITPLN students will have access to Simoprime A4 and Fusesaver protection devices for electrical system. With the equipment in the laboratory of Electricity and Renewable Energy Faculty as well as training on how-to operate the medium-voltage switchgear by ‘Lingkaran Muda’ (Junior Circle) from Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation of Siemens Indonesia, students will be able to monitor the condition of switchgear accurately and successfully mitigate circuit breaker failures.
