Published on 15 October 2021

EuroCham was invited by the Ministry of Transportation to a Multi-stakeholders Discussion on 24 September 2021 titled, “Financial Design of the Intermodal Freight Transport”, jointly organized by GIZ under the TRANSfer III programme. This multi-stakeholder discussion invited relevant stakeholders as well as policy makers from the Government to jointly discuss a Financial Design Study that is expected to assist the integration of freight transport on roads and rails as an effort to improve the competitiveness of Indonesia's transportation and logistics. Thereby creating synergies to support Indonesia's economic growth.

This Financial Design aims to set a high-level financing concept that estimates the costs and revenues of various measures or interventions that had been identified under the Technical Assessment and Impact Assessment conducted in 2020 as well as to evaluate the financial and economic feasibility, as well as outlining feasible financing mechanism options for the implementation of activities. This study is expected to provide an illustration regarding the several interventions that can be carried out in order to increase the market share of intermodal freight transport, especially in an effort to increase the market share of rail transport.
