Integrated management of watersheds or watersheds continues to be developed in the Pasuruan Regency in order to maintain the sustainability and effectiveness of deep groundwater utilization, which has been a blessing for the Pasuruan Regency and the surrounding areas. During the opening of the workshop entitled, 'Integrated Management of Watersheds in Pasuruan Regency” by the Pasuruan Regency Watershed Management Coordination Forum, Pasuruan Regent Irsyad Yusuf, SE. MMA stated that Pasuruan Regency is blessed with the potential of abundant springs. In fact, one of the springs in Pasuruan Regency has become a national strategic project, namely the Umbulan SPAM. In addition, dozens of bottled water companies also operate in the Pasuruan Regency area by utilizing available water raw materials. “Behind this blessing there is also a challenge. The reduction in the amount of Umbulan SPAM water discharge needs to be monitored if you don't want to run out of water in future. Good watershed management is the key," he said in his opening remarks at the workshop, Thursday (10/2/2022).

Gus Irsyad, as the Regent is more commonly referred to, expressed his appreciation for the existence of the Pasuruan Regency Watershed Management Coordination Forum or FDP. Specifically, the same level of appreciation was conveyed to Danone-AQUA, which has been a partner of the Pasuruan Regency government in protecting the environment. It is hoped that Danone-AQUA can intensify its active role in integrated watershed management with FDP.

As one of the speakers, Karyanto Wibowo, Danone Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Director, stated that the watershed is a common facility, wherein all elements in it should participate to maintain its sustainability. "As part of the Rejoso watershed, our AQUA Keboncandi factory strives to be part of the solution by carrying out conservation programs, which includes planting 283,000 trees and constructing 250 units of infiltration wells in water catchment areas," explained Karyanto. He added that, “Collaboration is key, for that we are proud to be part of the Watershed Management Coordination Forum as well as to collaborate with local partners, involving the community and get directions from relevant government institutions including DLH, TNBTS and Perhutani. We thank and appreciate all those who have supported us, to work together to create a sustainable Rejoso watershed,” he added.
