EuroCham Agriculture, Food & Beverage Sub-Working Group Meeting in collaboration with EU Delegation: EU Policymaking for Indonesia

Published on 18 September 2025

On August 28, the EuroCham Agriculture, Food & Beverage (AFB) Sub-Working Group, as part of the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Working Group, held an insightful meeting to analyze the European Union's policy-making process and its implications for stakeholders in Indonesia.

We were honored to host a pivotal session led by Hans Joostens, Deputy Head of the Trade and Economic Section - EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam. Mr. Joostens and his expert team provided a comprehensive overview of the EU's unique, transparent, and science-based legislative process. They also highlight practical tools for engagement like the "Have Your Say" platform and the EU Law Tracker.

This knowledge is invaluable as Indonesia continues to align its regulations with international standards. Understanding the EU's principle-based approach, particularly in areas like sustainability and food safety under the EU Green Deal, offers a robust framework for strengthening our own regulatory practices.

A heartfelt thank you to Hans Joostens and the entire team at the EU Delegation for their partnership and for sharing these critical insights. We also extend our gratitude to all our AFB members who participated in the vibrant discussion. EuroCham Indonesia looks forward to channeling these insights into our continued advocacy and collaboration efforts.
