On 2 March, EuroCham had the honour of paying a courtesy visit to the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan/BPOM) and meeting with the Head of BPOM, Taruna Ikrar. The meeting served to introduce EuroCham's Healthcare Working Group and provided an overview of EuroCham’s broader advocacy priorities.
Led by Deputy Head of the Working Group Efraim Ariesandy, the delegation engaged in constructive discussion with BPOM on recent developments in the healthcare sector. Key topics included efforts to expand access to innovative and essential medicines, strengthen investment in the healthcare industry, and combat counterfeit medical products. The delegation also conveyed its congratulations on BPOM’s recent recognition as a WHO Listed Authority (WLA), which reflects Indonesia’s growing regulatory credibility at the global level.
EuroCham reiterates its commitment to supporting BPOM and the Government of Indonesia in further strengthening the healthcare regulatory framework, enhancing patient safety, and fostering a transparent, science-based, and investment-friendly environment for pharmaceuticals and medical products.
EuroCham expresses its sincere appreciation to BPOM for the productive exchange and looks forward to continued collaboration in advancing Indonesia’s healthcare priorities and building a resilient and innovative healthcare ecosystem.
