L’Oréal Indonesia Brings Beauty for a Better Life Alumni from Home Hair Styling to Hair Show Stage

Published on 15 December 2017

Jakarta, 15 December 2017 – Beauty for A Better Life (BFBL), launched by L’Oréal Indonesia in 2014, is a CSR program implemented in 5 training centers across Indonesia (Jakarta, Bekasi, Karawang, Cianjur and Mataram) and has provided 611 participants free hairdressing training with international standard curriculum. The program lasts for 4.5 months, which includes 3 months of in class training and 1.5 months of internship. To date, 299 participants out of 443 BFBL alumni have worked in beauty salons, opened mobile salon services or opened their own hair salons. In 2017, L’Oréal Indonesia collaborated further with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Industry to run the BFBL programs at Vocational High School (SMK) levels, especially at SMKN 27 Jakarta, SMKN 03 Bogor and SMKN 09 Bandung, in order to prepare a work force that is readily available to be absorbed by the industry.

As part of the ongoing effort to help people with socio-economic limitations, this year L’Oréal Indonesia provided opportunity for the BFBL alumni to present their best hair creations to prove that BFBL graduates are ready-to-work certified professional hair stylists. For 5 days, 15 best alumni from the BFBL program in Indonesia went through a competitive debriefing and judging process prior to their grand appearance on the Beauty for A Better Life Hair Show stage.

All the three judges of BFBL Hair Show consisting of Patricia Lauretta Viola, Head of Key Account Manager and Capability Manager PPD L’Oréal Indonesia; Theresa Sinurat, Head of School Beauty for A Better Life; and guest judge Audid Rasidi, Owner of Shinjuku Salon Surabaya, had chosen three winners as follows:

Karin from Jababeka Training Center, Alumni 2017 as the First Winner for Best Hair Styling Creation

Anita from Jakarta Training Center, Alumni 2017 as the Second Winner for Best Hair Styling Creation

Narti Siti Fahriyati from Jababeka Training Center, Alumni 2016 as the Inspiring Alumni Winner
