EuroCham Announces New Executive Board

Jakarta, 1 July 2021 – The European Business Chambers of Commerce (EuroCham) Indonesia announced its new executive board composition, following its Extraordinary Members Meeting that was held virtually on 10 June 2021. The Meeting elected Julien Steimer, Commissioner of AXA Services Indonesia, as EuroCham’s Executive Board Chairman for the 2021-2022 period. At the same time, Wichard Von Harrach, the President Director of Jawa Power, was also reinstated as the Vice Chairman, and Alvin Christian, President Director of TMF Indonesia, was elected as the Treasurer.

“I am honored to be appointed as EuroCham’s Chairman. I am grateful for this opportunity to represent some of the leading companies and businesses in Indonesia, and I am confident that together, we will build a better environment that supports sustainable business growth, which ultimately benefits the Indonesian economy and its human progress,” Julien Steimer, the newly appointed Chairman of EuroCham stated.

The newly appointed members of EuroCham’s Board, along with the Bilateral Chamber Representatives to the Board, comprise of high level representatives of prominent European companies that operate in Indonesia. Together, they will work to strengthen the cooperation between Europe and Indonesia through information sharing and a proactive advocacy dialogue with the Government of Indonesia and other stakeholders, representing a pan-European industry voice.

Profile of EuroCham EuroCham’s New Chairman

Julien Steimer has served as commissioner of PT AXA Mandiri Financial Services since October 2019. He studied Humanities and Social Sciences from Sciences Po Paris (France) and Public Administration from Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA) Paris (France). Moreover, Julien also has a wealth of experience in government, insurance industry and diplomacy.

He served as secretary general of AXA France -the largest AXA Group entity in the world and was later entrusted to serve as Regional CEO of AXA France. As CEO, he dedicated himself to serving more than one million customers, focusing on health, life and general insurance.

Julien is also a U.S. Yale University World Fellow and the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leader. He has also obtained a number of certificates, one of which is QCRO (Qualified Chief Risk Officer) from the Professional Certification Body of Risk Management – Mitra Kalyana Sejahtera (LSP MKS).

Profile of Other Members of the Board

Wichard Graf von Harrach is EuroCham’s Vice Chairman and President Director of PT Jawa Power. He is also concurrently a Board Member of the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC). Wichard is a trained economist and has over 25 years’ experience in different business development and management functions for IT, Telecom and Infrastructure. He initially joined Siemens in 2003 in Bangladesh followed by a position as the Vice President Project Development of Siemens Project Ventures in Germany. In 2009, he was seconded for the first time as a board member of a large German Renewable Developer with a track record of 1,200 MW and 12 GW of pipeline. He was subsequently sent by Siemens to become the President Director for PT Jawa Power – a 1220 MW power plant in 2014.

Alvin Christian is EuroCham’s Treasurer and at the TMF Group as the Managing Director of Indonesia and the A&T Practice Head of South East Asia. He has a combined overseas (mainly in the USA) and local experience of 20+ years in the field of strategic leadership, corporate finance, accounting, risk management, corporate secretarial, and general management areas, working for prominent organizations such as Thomson Reuters, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Manulife USA, and Veolia Environment. Alvin is a certified accountant (FCPA, CPA), most recently he was the CFO and Legal Director of G4S (Group 4 Securicor) Indonesia.

Agus Ciputra is an Executive Board Member of EuroCham and the President Director of BASF entities in Indonesia which includes a distribution company and three manufacturing sites. BASF solutions contribute to the success of its customers in Indonesia in nearly all industries, including agriculture, food, home & personal care, automotive, paints and coatings and chemicals. Agus began his career with BASF in 2007 as a technical sales representative for the polyurethane business in Jakarta, Indonesia. He then held various management positions within BASF Group in Singapore, Switzerland, Germany and China before his return to BASF Indonesia in 2019.

David Cullerier is an Executive Board Member of EuroCham and the President Director of ENGIE Energy Indonesia as well as a French Foreign Trade Advisor. David has 26 years of experience in the energy sector in Europe, North America, and Asia. He is also a board member of PTT NGD Bangkok and Excom member of ENGIE Asia Pacific.

Vera Galuh Sugijanto is an Executive Board Member of EuroCham and is the VP General Secretary of Danone Indonesia. Vera began her career with Danone as the General Counsel Director for Legal Advisory, Regulatory Affairs & Compliance. She is responsible for all divisions of the drinking water and specialized nutrition for Danone Indonesia. Prior to her career at Danone, Vera served as the Legal and External Affairs Director for GlaxoSmithKline Indonesia, a pharmaceutical company based in the UK.

Frédéric Draps is an Executive Board Member of EuroCham and is a foreign legal consultant with Oentoeng Suria & Partners (OSP) and partner of Ashurst LLP specialising in project development and financing. Based in Indonesia since 2012, Frédéric advises sponsors, lenders, government stakeholders and contractors on a wide range of projects in the power and renewable energy, oil and gas, mining and infrastructure sectors. Frédéric also has extensive experience advising on corporate transactions and disputes relating to these sectors.

Maurits Klavert is an Executive Board Member of EuroCham and the President Director at PT Frisian Flag Indonesia. Maurits has vast experience in the FMCG sector in Indonesia and abroad. He joined Frisian Flag Indonesia in 2007 as the Sales and Trade Marketing Director, after which he served as Managing Director of FrieslandCampina in the Middle East. In 2015, he was appointed President Director in Indonesia. Prior to Frisian Flag, Maurits served in progressive roles in other FMCG companies such as Nestlé and Gillette and as Head of Marketing & Public Affairs at HSBC Indonesia.

Hernie Raharja is an Executive Board Member of EuroCham and Vice President Foods and Refreshment at Unilever. She has 23 years of extensive experience in FMCG industry, both in Indonesia and global, on various categories ranging from Beauty and Personal Care to Foods and Refreshment. Before joining the Board Director of Unilever Indonesia in 2016, Hernie was the Global Brand Director for Pepsodent, the Regional Brand Director for Oral Care for Unilever Southeast Asia, the Hair Care Marketing Director for Unilever Indonesia, and Oral Care Marketing Director for Unilever Indonesia. Apart from driving business, Hernie leads various high profiled sustainability programs for the brands under her leadership which include empowering more than three thousand farmers across Indonesia with Bango and educating parents on healthy menu with Royco. Recently she is also appointed as the Chairman of Unilever Indonesia’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion board to bring forward the company’s mission in creating a fairer and socially inclusive society.

François de Maricourt is the British Chamber’s (Britcham) Representative to the Board of EuroCham and is the President Director of PT Bank HSBC Indonesia since August 2020. François joined HSBC in 1994 and has been appointed in a number of senior leadership roles since joining the bank. He has more than 25 years of experience in banking spanning across various geographies in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. His last role was as the CEO for HSBC Bangladesh and also as a board member of HSBC Mauritius. François oversees the whole HSBC Group operations in Indonesia that spans over 58 branches and 3300 staff in more than 21 cities.

Jan Rönnfeld is the Delegate of German Industry in Indonesia and serves as representative of the German Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EKONID) on the Board of EuroCham.

After professional postings in Europe and the US, he moved to Indonesia in 1998 to work for EKONID, since 2003 as Managing Director. EKONID, the largest European Chamber in Indonesia, represents the interest of its 450 corporate members and provides trade and investment advise and services.

Marco Noto La Diega is the Italian Chamber’s (IBAI) Representative to the Board of EuroCham and is currently the Chairman of IBAI – Italian Business Association in Indonesia since 2017. Marco has extensive international exposure, notably in Asia where he has spent the last 17 years, with assignments in Indonesia, Vietnam, China, and Japan. He is concurrently the CEO of PT Piaggio Indonesia, the Italian automotive company known for its Vespa scooters. Prior to joining Piaggio, Marco held various senior roles with Valeo Group, automotive part maker multinational, across multiple countries and functions. He began his international career in London in the investment banking industry.

Gustaaf Reerink is the Dutch Business Network (DBN) Representative to the Board of EuroCham and is a foreign counsel at ABNR Counsellors at Law. He advises on corporate and commercial transactions, specializing in foreign investment, corporate/mergers & acquisitions, and antitrust, across a broad range of industries. He is also a co-founder and board member of DBN.

Philippe Augier is the French Chamber’s (IFCCI) Representative to the Board of EuroCham and is the President of IFCCI (Indonesia-French Chamber of Commerce) as well as the Conseiller du Commerce Exterieur in Indonesia (CCE). Philippe is a French entrepreneur, born in Marseille in 1955. He is presently active in energy trading (Pertamina), tourism (Natura Resort and Spa) and art and culture (Museum Pasifika). He founded in 1984 PT Prasmanido Boga Utama. Philippe was formerly Managing Director for the French SHRM Group for South East Asia (1988-1997).

Per Ecker is the Scandinavian Chamber’s (INBC) Representative to the Board of EuroCham and is concurrently a senior advisor for smart city and telecom solutions (ITS). Per plays an active role as a consultant in this market to promote Nordic and European companies that seek to explore business opportunities in Indonesia. Along with his position as the Chairman of the Board in the Norwegian Chamber (INBC) in Jakarta over the last five (5) years, Per has represented both large and medium sized European companies in Indonesia over the last twenty-five (25) years. Through his experience, Per has gained substantial experience in the Indonesia market.

EuroCham Umumkan Dewan Eksekutif Baru

Jakarta, 1 Juli 2021 – European Business Chambers of Commerce (EuroCham) Indonesia atau Kamar Dagang Bisnis Eropa Indonesia mengumumkan susunan dewan eksekutif baru setelah menyelenggarakan Rapat Luar Biasa Anggota asosiasi tersebut secara virtual pada tanggal 10 Juni 2021. Rapat tersebut menyetujui pengangkatan Julien Steimer, Komisaris AXA Services Indonesia, sebagai Ketua Dewan Eksekutif EuroCham untuk periode 2021-2022. Pada saat bersamaan, Wichard Von Harrach, Direktur Utama Jawa Power, diangkat kembali sebagai Wakil Ketua, sementara Alvin Christian, President Direktur TMF Indonesia, diangkat sebagai Bendahara.

Julien Steimer menjabat sebagai komisaris PT AXA Mandiri Financial Services sejak bulan Oktober 2019.
