Socialization on IPR Border Protection Procedures

On 14 May 2018, the Customs Main Office hold a socialization on Government Regulation No. 20/2017 and Minister of Finance Regulation No. 40/PMK.04/2018. These regulations regulates Recording, Prevention, Warranty, Temporary Suspension, Monitoring and Evaluation to Control the Import and Export of the Goods which Allegedly Violate the Intellectual Property Rights. 

During this event, Mr. Heru Pambudi as the Director General of Customs and Excise provided some background of the issuance and its importance in combating counterfeit products, and providing protection for the public, and creating business certainty. The new procedures would allow holder of Trademark and Copyright to take part in a scheme where prevention and suspension of import-export goods can be conducted based on the Customs’ recording system.
