Published on 20 October 2025

On September 23, EuroCham Indonesia (The European Business Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia) was proud to take part and witness the Substantial Conclusion of the I-EU CEPA, marking another milestone from the Indonesian government and the EU held at Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort.

This historic event officially commenced with the signing ceremony and the joint announcement presided by H.E. Airlangga Hartarto, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and H.E. Maroš Šefčovič, the EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security. The event was witnessed by the Ambassadors of the EU member states to Indonesia as well as numerous business representatives from the EU member states and Indonesia.

EuroCham was represented by over 30 distinguished business delegates, who were there along with Indonesian senior business representatives, as represented by members of Kamar Dagang dan Industri (Kadin) Indonesia / Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (APINDO). The I-EU CEPA lead negotiators from both parties, and other distinguished invitees, also participated in witnessing this historic event.

Following the ceremony and joint announcement, Fabian Kieble, as the Chairman of EuroCham, had the honour to participate as a speaker in a panel discussion entitled, “Harnessing the Benefits of the I-EU CEPA for Future Prospects and Mutual Growth”, wherein he shared the expectations and opportunities of this trade pact from the European business perspective as well as the priorities EuroCham has set to support the objectives of the CEPA. Going forward, the I-EU CEPA will undergo legal scrubbing and ratification by both the EU and Indonesia, and is targeted to take into effect by January 2027. EuroCham firmly believes the I-EU CEPA will foster better market accessibility and create bigger job opportunities for both Europe and Indonesia.

EuroCham Indonesia would like to thank our esteemed participants for their tremendous support and participation. Our heartfelt gratitude also goes to the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.
