Workshop on Land-based Value Capture

On 19 November 2019, EuroCham was invited to attend a Workshop organize by Universitas Gadjah Mada, Radboud University, and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and hosted by Hutama Karya. The workshop discussed the demand and possibilities for developing a dedicated program in Indonesia to develop expertise and competence for the implementation of land management policies and land-based value capture instruments. Land-based value capture is financial instruments and policy to capture part of land value increase caused by the development of public infrastructure. The instruments goals are to use the part of increase value to be use for funding of new infrastructure, affordable housing, public transport, and other public facilities. The workshop discussion was closed with hopes for a pilot program on land management policies in the cities of Indonesia.
