PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk. initiated a movement to encourage the revival of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Through a campaign entitled, #UnileverUntukIndonesia, which means Unilever for Indonesia, the Company, which has been operating since 1933, is helping 147,000 “warung” or stall merchants as part of the Unilever ecosystem amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The launch of the #UnileverUntukIndonesia campaign was carried out through a webinar with the big theme of #JagaUMKMIndonesia, or guarding Indonesia SMEs, held with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (11/8).

The President Director of PT Unilever Indonesia, Tbk., Hemant Bakshi, said that almost all sectors were affected by the pandemic, especially MSME players. Therefore, it requires the mutual cooperation from various parties to help strengthen MSMEs. For Unilever Indonesia, partnerships with MSME players - especially Unilever's "warung" merchant partners, are an important part of the ecosystem and growth since the company was founded. "Continuing with various previous MSME initiatives, through the #UnileverUntukIndonesia campaign, we provide real support for 147,000 stall merchants in our ecosystem to stay healthy and be able to continue selling. We do this by donating profits from transactions with ‘stalls’ for the next three months. In the form of packages containing hygiene products and personal protective equipment, and additional capital for business continuity. This is one manifestation of our commitment to continue to support the Indonesian SMEs, hopefully it will be an encouragement to get back up and contribute towards an advanced Indonesia, "Hemant continued.
