Mercedes-Benz and Virgil Abloh Collaborate to Promote Luxury with Innovative Designs

Published on 16 September 2020

On 8 September, Project Geländewagen - the result of the first collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Virgil Abloh, Chief Creative Director, founder of Off-White and Men's Artistic Director Louis Vuitton - was inaugurated with a unique digital launch event. This conceptual design project, led by Chief Design Officer Mercedes-Benz Gorden Wagener and Virgil Abloh, uses the Mercedes-Benz G-Class to express ways of disrupting future perceptions of luxury. The result is a unique G-Class manifestation like never before. Moved to support art at critical times, a replica of this artwork will be auctioned as part of Sotheby's Contemporary Curated, one of the most admired auction series shaped by unique perspectives by different influential curators each year, and all proceeds from the auction will be donated to a charity that supports the international creative community. Bidding will start on 14 September 2020. "My ultimate goal in this project with Mercedes-Benz is to inspire young artists, engineers and designers to question the status quo, and also to experiment with my own design skills," said Virgil Abloh.
