BPOM: Preparation of ASEAN Cosmetics Scientific Body

Published on 28 August 2020

On 28 August, the Indonesian Food and Drug Agency (BPOM) held a preparatory meeting before the ASEAN Cosmetics Scientific Body (ACSB) meeting and invited several cosmetics associations, including EuroCham. At the meeting, Tepy Usia (Director of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplement, and Cosmetics Standardization) from BPOM chaired the meeting and explained the outcome of the previous ACSB meeting, as well as the upcoming agenda for the meeting. It is hoped that businesses and associations can provide their views and inputs to BPOM on topics that would like to be discussed among the ASEAN countries. BPOM also encouraged the cosmetics associations to be involved as an observer in the ACSB Meeting.

The ACSB meeting is an annual meeting to discuss the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive and its appendixes, which will be approved and takes effect for the cosmetic sector in all ASEAN countries. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 32nd ACSB meeting will be conducted virtually on 8-9 September 2020.
