Empowering MSMEs in the Covid-19 Recovery Period: Trends and Challenges in 2021

Published on 10 February 2021

On Wednesday 20 January 2021, EuroCham received an invitation from the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) to participate in a discussion on empowering MSMEs during the COVID-19 recovery period. The speakers at the event included Victoria Simanungkalit (Deputy for Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs), Mohamad Rosihan (Chair of IdEA Membership and Business Development), and Ruben Hattari (Member of the IdEA Trade and Export Sector). On this occasion, the government conveyed the programs carried out in relation to the SMEs, including: certification and standardization of MSMEs and a national campaign of Proudly Made in Indonesia or Bangga Buatan Indonesia.

During the event, business players expressed their appreciation for these programs, but there are still many aspects that needs to be addressed, one of which involves the training given to MSMEs, wherein the duration is deemed too short.
