On 8 August 2020, the EuroCham Taskforce within the Agriculture, Food, and Beverages Working Group was invited by Reri Indriani (Deputy III for Processed Food Supervision within the National Agency of Food and Drug Control or BPOM), to participate in an event entitled, “Socialization on BPOM Regulation No. 8 of 2020 on the Supervision of Drug and Food Distributed Online”. This meeting sought to clarify and provide more detailed explanations particularly on processed food products as stated in this regulation.

In this occasion, BPOM revealed that the five concerns submitted by the industrial business has been followed up, namely the inclusion of food labels, repackaging of processed food products, relaxation related to Processed Products for Medical Purposes, supervision of delivery, and the implementation of administrative sanctions that is gradually carried out. Based on this meeting, the participants hoped that this regulation could still be revised by including several other feedbacks, namely related to detailed separation of responsibilities for each category of users, starting from market place, producers, distributors, to consumers.
