RCEP: World and Indonesia Economic Awakening 2021-2022

On Wednesday 20 January 2021, EuroCham was invited to attend a webinar from Katadata on “The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP): The Awakening of the World Economy and Indonesia 2021-2022”. The event was opened with keynote remarks from Mahendra Siregar (the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs). Speakers at the event were Bimo Grahito Wicaksono (Acting Head of ASEAN Section and Dialogue Partners, Directorate of International Industrial Access, Ministry of Industry), Shinta Kamdani (Deputy Chairman of Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry/KADIN), and Andry Asmoro (Chief Economist of Bank Mandiri). The RCEP was signed in mid-November and is expected to be one of the driving forces for the economy of its members, including Indonesia. According to the Fiscal Policy Agency’s Study in 2019, RCEP can increase Indonesia's GDP by 0.05 percent in the 2021-2032 period.
