HSBC Net Zero Transition Special Award Finalists Gathering

HSBC, a EuroCham platinum member, recently held the Net Zero Transition Special Award Finalists Gathering at Hotel Mulia Senayan on 17 October. The HSBC Special Awards ceremony was opened with keynote remarks from Christophe Piganiol (Head of Sustainability and Innovation Sectoral Group Swiss Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Anugerah Pharmindo Lestar (APL) and Francois de Maricourt (President Director of HSBC Indonesia and EuroCham and Britcham Board Member). This was followed by remarks from the Chairman of KADIN Net Zero, Muhammad Yusrizki, who highlighted the key role that businesses hold in promoting sustainable development in Indonesia.

The HSBC Net Zero Transition Special Awards recognizes businesses that have embedded sustainable practices in their strategies, especially in regards to the categories of Investment in Clean Energy, Innovation towards Clean Energy, and Community Engagement in Developing Clean Energy.

EuroCham would like to honor and congratulate the winners: AKR Corporindo (Investment in Clean Energy), Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur (Innovation towards Clean Energy), and Barito Pacific (Community Engagement in Developing Clean Energy) for their contribution as leaders in achieving their net zero commitments.

Meeting with Ministry of Manpower

On 14 October, representatives of AmCham Indonesia and EuroCham Indonesia were invited to meet with senior officials of the Indonesian Manpower Ministry at their office in Jakarta. The Chamber representatives met with Suhartono (Director General of Manpower Placement and Development and Work Opportunity Expansion/Dirjen Binapenta & PPK of the Ministry of Manpower), Haryanto (Director of Foreign Manpower Control and Utilization/Direktur PPTKA of the Ministry of Manpower), along with other officials. The meeting was meant as a courtesy call and to discuss the topic of the Ministry of Manpower No. 228 of 2019, regarding Certain Job Positions Available for Foreign Workers. EuroCham was represented at the meeting by the Deputy of the Human Resources Working Group, Rakhman Sapta Ferdinansyah, CHRP of TMF Group, and Christian Nathanael Silwanus from EuroCham’s Advocacy team.

EuroCham appreciates the Indonesian government's ongoing efforts to improve the business environment through policy reforms in the labor sector along with other initiatives. We believe that flexible and adaptive labor policies promote investment, which is critical for accelerating the country's economic recovery, and future economic growth.

EuroCham also extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Manpower, AmCham, and the other foreign chambers in Indonesia that collaborated in this advocacy effort.
