Launch of Position Paper 2021

EuroCham officially launched its annual Position Papers 2021 publication through a Webinar entitled, “Acceleration of the Economic Recovery through Structural Reforms”. The Position Papers 2021 consists of 13 sectoral papers and 1 Executive Summary that reflects European businesses' experiences and views conveyed with the intent on improving Indonesia’s economic competitiveness and ease of doing business. This event was participated by Ambassador Vincent Piket (EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam), Julien Steimer (the Chairman of EuroCham), and Corine Tap (the Immediate Past Chair of EuroCham), in their capacity as key representatives of Europe and European businesses in Indonesia wherein they conveyed views in support of the government's efforts to carry out structural reforms needed to accelerate economic recovery.

The event invited Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, who provided the keynote address on the National Program for Economic Recovery, particularly in regards to the role of the private sector. The event’s panel discussion included distinguished speakers from government as represented by Indonesia’s Trade Minister, Muhammad Lutfi, Febrio Kacaribu (Chair of the Fiscal Policy Agency), as well as Eko SA Cahyanto (Director-General of Resilience, Territorial and International Industrial Access of the Ministry of Industry). EuroCham member’s viewpoints and recommendations were conveyed in the panel discussion by the Head of the EuroCham Export-Import Procedures Working Group, Rachmat Hidayat, that touched on the current potential and challenges of doing business in Indonesia. This panel discussion also touched on the structural reforms currently being carried out to accelerate the country’s economic recovery. The discussions were moderated by the Deputy Head of the EuroCham Finance, Taxation, and Investment Working Group, Leonard Anilaputra Eggert.

EuroCham Meeting with the Jakarta Japan Club

On 29 June 2021, EuroCham held a virtual meeting with representatives of the Jakarta Japan Club (JJC). This meeting seeks to introduce the activities of the EuroCham Automotive Working Group to the JJC Automotive Working Group. The intention of this introductory meeting is to explore possibilities for the two organizations to work together in future. This meeting was attended by the Head of EuroCham Automotive Working Group, Daniel Purba, and a Member of the JJC Executive Board that represented the Automotive Sector, Tanaka Masamichi. Both sides introduced each organization’s activities in the Automotive Sector, and were committed to maintain open communications to jointly address common challenges in the automotive industry.
