IKEA donated 17,500 face masks, 250 mattresses and 1,000 staple food packages

IKEA donated 17,500 reusable face masks and 250 mattresses to the West Java Task Force as COVID-19 assistance in the region. This initiative was also made possible with the support of the Government of West Java, the Swedish Embassy, and Business Sweden, which is an official business institution under the auspices of the Swedish government. This donation is part of the IKEA Indonesia campaign, the Blue Bag Project, a social initiative forum to facilitate collaborative efforts between IKEA Indonesia and customers to support various social problems that occur in areas that IKEA operates in.

“IKEA has a strong commitment to make a positive impact on society, the community and the earth where we live, and one of the efforts we do is through the Blue Bag Project. West Java is one of the important areas for IKEA and we are committed to making a positive impact for West Java and its people. Today, we are very pleased to be working with the West Java government to provide assistance and create a better everyday life for the people of West Java,” said Patrik Lindvall, the President Director of PT HERO Supermarket Tbk.

In addition to this, IKEA Indonesia is collaborating with the Bogor Regency Government to deliver staple food packages for 1,000 families around its operational areas through the IKEA Peduli Program.

Launching of #UnileverUntukIndonesia, to Help MSMEs Recover

PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk. initiated a movement to encourage the revival of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Through a campaign entitled, #UnileverUntukIndonesia, which means Unilever for Indonesia, the Company, which has been operating since 1933, is helping 147,000 “warung” or stall merchants as part of the Unilever ecosystem amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The launch of the #UnileverUntukIndonesia campaign was carried out through a webinar with the big theme of #JagaUMKMIndonesia, or guarding Indonesia SMEs, held with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (11/8).

The President Director of PT Unilever Indonesia, Tbk., Hemant Bakshi, said that almost all sectors were affected by the pandemic, especially MSME players. Therefore, it requires the mutual cooperation from various parties to help strengthen MSMEs. For Unilever Indonesia, partnerships with MSME players - especially Unilever's "warung" merchant partners, are an important part of the ecosystem and growth since the company was founded. "Continuing with various previous MSME initiatives, through the #UnileverUntukIndonesia campaign, we provide real support for 147,000 stall merchants in our ecosystem to stay healthy and be able to continue selling. We do this by donating profits from transactions with ‘stalls’ for the next three months. In the form of packages containing hygiene products and personal protective equipment, and additional capital for business continuity.
