L’Oréal Indonesia plans to use plastics from recycled or bio-based sources for all of its packaging. The move is part of the cosmetics company's recently launched global sustainability program dubbed, “L’Oréal for the Future”, which aims to use such eco-friendly plastics for all its product packaging by 2030. “We’ve removed cellophane [part] in our Garnier key products packaging to reduce the weight and size of the plastic on our packaging,” L’Oréal Indonesia Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Director, Melanie Masriel, told The Jakarta Post via email correspondence, adding that the initiative was part of the company's commitment to reduce the environmental impact of its products.
L’Oréal's previous campaign entitled, “Sharing Beauty with All”, which ran between 2013 and 2020, also highlighted sustainability by reducing its packaging weight and using more eco-friendly plastic materials.
