Unilever Indonesia CEO Navigates Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth Discussion at the B20 Women in Business Action Council

Published on 15 February 2022

In her capacity as the Chair of Women in Business Action Council (WiBAC), Ira Noviarti said that, “The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on all of our lives, including to the gender equality efforts that have been gained in the world economy. The level of gender gap in the business world, which has declined over the past decade, is again showing an increase. This gap continues to be felt by female workers, for example, the representation of women in managerial positions is still less than that of men, along with the income gap between women and men, as well as violence against women. Recommendations and policies should be implemented in a structured manner to bridge these gaps.”

She also added that WiBAC, which has 151 business executive members from 26 countries and 19 different industries, will provide recommendations and policies that can be implemented in various countries. “We believe that the diversity of the WiBAC members will provide valuable input in bridging and realizing gender equality in the global economy. The action council will continue to periodically deliver policy recommendations related to inclusive sustainable growth up to the upcoming November 2022 G20 Summit,” Ira stressed.
