EuroCham Insurance Members met the Chair of Fiscal Policy Agency on Tax Treatment for Insurance Sector

Following the last meeting in December last year, EuroCham insurance members, together with US-ASEAN Business Council, Indonesia Canada Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Indonesia, and BritCham Indonesia met again on 23 January 2019. The meeting served as a preparation for upcoming policy meeting with the Chair of Fiscal Policy Agency, Suahasil Nazara. The purpose of this preparatory meeting was to finalize talking points as well as presentation materials to be presented to the Fiscal Policy Agency, as well as the roles of each foreign chambers in this joint advocacy effort.

Following the preparatory meeting, the group met Suahasil Nazara on the next day, 24 January 2019. The group presented a common issue related to tax treatment for the insurance sector, which could impact the overall insurance industry. During the meeting, the Fiscal Policy Agency recognized the urgency of the issue and therefore willing to facilitate a joint assessment with the Directorate General of Tax and the Financial Services Authority.
