Our COVID-19 Story: West Java - Challenges, Wins, Collaborations, Opportunities with the Governor of West Java

On Monday, 18 May 2020, EuroCham member companies joined a webinar with the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil. This webinar was organized by BritCham Indonesia as a joint dialogue among international business chambers in Indonesia.

In this opportunity, Ridwan Kamil shared lesson learned from the COVID-19 evaluation, further scenarios for resuming activities, focus of the current regional government, and opportunities where private sectors can help acceleration of the COVID-19 management.

The regional government of West Java is opened for collaboration opportunities through Healthcare Facilities, Testing Capacity, Social Security Net, enhancing Local Supply Chain for COVID-19 products, as well as Research and Technical Assistant.

Ridwan Kamil highlighted that June will be an important period to control the spreading of COVID-19, if want to be optimistic to resume more or less normal activities in West Java by July 2020 with still maintaining certain health protocols.

CIPS-EuroCham Joint Webinar on How to attract Foreign Direct Investment in the Post-Covid19 World

EuroCham collaborated again with Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS) in organizing a joint webinar on 13 May 2020. This time, the discussion focused on How to attract Foreign Direct Investment in the Post-Covid19 World. The webinar aims to highlight the need to continue foreign investment policy reform efforts which Indonesian government started prior to the pandemic. In addition, also highlight that with the increasing tendency from business to diversify the operations in ASEAN, Indonesia could capitalize and ramp up the opportunities given the relevant foreign investment policy in place.

The distinguished speakers were Randi Anwar from Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, Leonardo Adypurnama Alias Teguh Sambodo from Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning, along with Sumit Duta from HSBC representing European business side.
