Social Good Summit 2019, "Climate Crisis: It's Up to You to Stop It"

EuroCham was invited to attend the Social Good Summit (SGS). SGS is an UNDP’s annual youth summit dedicated to bringing together national thought leaders, changemakers and influential voices for a constructive dialogue. This year’s Summit focused on the catastrophic threat of climate change. We only have one planet, it’s up to you to stop it.

The event held in 26 November at Perpustakaan Nasional. SGS in Indonesia this year aims to highlight the importance of climate change issue from all facets. It is geared towards youth and the generation under 35. The event were devided into four Panels namely, Climate Crisis: Our Ocean & Forest, Climate Crisis & Waste Management, Climate Crisis & Gender, and Climate Crisis & Youth.

National Seminar on Professional Positions That Can be occupied by Foreign Workers

EuroCham was invited by the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI) to a National Seminar on “Professional Positions that can be occupied by Foreign Workers”, which was held on 26 November 2019 at JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta. The national seminar aims to disseminate information on the new Minister of Manpower Decree No. 228 of 2019 on Certain Job Positions that can be occupied by Foreign Workers, which has been effective since 27 August 2019.

Since this seminar was held by PERADI, the highlight of discussion was on legal professions that are listed in the Decree despite the Law No. 18 of 2003 on Advocate already regulates foreign advocates. IT was also discussed, the Ministerial Decree states that for positions which are not listed in the Appendix, the employers shall obtain approval from the Minister or an appointed official, although the mechanism for this procedure as mentioned by a representative from the ministry of manpower is still prepared by the Ministry.
