Workshop on Land-based Value Capture

On 19 November 2019, EuroCham was invited to attend a Workshop organize by Universitas Gadjah Mada, Radboud University, and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and hosted by Hutama Karya. The workshop discussed the demand and possibilities for developing a dedicated program in Indonesia to develop expertise and competence for the implementation of land management policies and land-based value capture instruments. Land-based value capture is financial instruments and policy to capture part of land value increase caused by the development of public infrastructure. The instruments goals are to use the part of increase value to be use for funding of new infrastructure, affordable housing, public transport, and other public facilities. The workshop discussion was closed with hopes for a pilot program on land management policies in the cities of Indonesia.

BIOGAS Asia Pacific Forum 2019

EuroCham supported the Biogas Asia Pacific Forum 2019, that was organized on 26-27 November 2019 in Jakarta. This forum is a platform that bring stakeholders within the biogas industry to one room. During the event, the Head of Energy Working Group, Thomas Wagner (Chief Representative South East Asia of EnviTec Biogas AG) chaired a panel discussion on Regional Biogas Development in South East Asia.

The event highlighted the uniqueness of biogas which can be produced not only from energy crops, but also organic waste matter makes it a sustainable energy solution for Southeast Asia. With Indonesia and Malaysia being the main palm oil producers in the world, business opportunities for biogas and upgraded biogas (biomethane) utilization for sustainable power generation and transport remains high for stakeholders.
