Seminar on Data Protection and Digital Economy

On Tuesday, 5 November 2019, EuroCham was invited to a Seminar organized by the EU Delegation Office in Jakarta to cover few topics surrounding Data Protection and the Digital Economy. Notably, few high-level speakers from government, industry, and academics spoke and shared their views on competitive advantage poses of data protection regulation for businesses.

Charge d’affaires Delegation of EU to Indonesia and Brunei Darusallam, Charles-Michel Geurts, and European Commission Head Unit for International Data Flows and Protection, Bruno Gencarelli shared about competitive advantage for private sectors who are performing a secure and efficient of data processing and controlling. Johny G Plate, the newly appointed Ministry of Communication & Informatics and Charles Honoris, member of Commission I of the House of Representatives shared an update on data protection bill which is still under consideration by the President Office, although hopes are high to boost the process for inclusion of the bill into the National Legislation Program of 2020.

EU-ASEAN Business Council Mission Trip to Indonesia

The EU-ASEAN Business Council is organising a mission trip to Indonesia. The mission trip is planned for 27-29 November 2019 and that the delegates will meet President Jokowi's newly minted cabinet and better understand the administration's priorities for the next 5 years.
