Focus Group Discussion on Revision of Patent Law
EuroCham was invited by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DG IP), Ministry of Law and Human Rights, to a Focus Group Discussion on 7-9 August 2019. The government is revising again the Patent Law, as currently stipulated under Law No. 13 of 2016. This event identified main provisions in the 2016 Patent Law that need to be revised to make sure compliance with international conventions and agreements, as well as ensuring the provisions can boost more innovation and investment to the country, and therefore accelerate transfer of technology.
During this event, the DG IP also collected inputs from the industry’s players, sectoral associations, and also foreign chambers including EuroCham. All inputs conveyed to the DG IP will be considered for the development of academic papers as a requirement to start developing a draft revision to the 2016 Patent Law. The DG IP is targeting the finalization of the academic papers by October 2019 in order to include the draft revision to the 2016 Patent Law to the National Legislation Program of 2020.
